Do they smell like chemicals when first opened?

While a slight natural fiber smell is normal for jute products, we have minimized the strong chemical or petroleum odor mentioned in reviews for some other brands. We still recommend airing them out for a day if you are sensitive to natural smells.
Will these placemats lay completely flat, or do they curl up?

Our placemats are pre-flattened to help them lay flat on the table. However, slight curling can occur after long storage, and a quick press or rolling them in reverse usually helps.
Can they be wiped clean and reused, or are they one-time use?

They are designed for both! They are sturdy enough to be wiped clean with a damp cloth and reused for multiple events, yet affordable enough to be considered disposable after a large gathering like a wedding if you prefer.
Are they heat resistant enough for warm plates?

They are suitable for everyday dining and warm plates. However, we do not recommend placing extremely hot cookware (like a cast iron skillet straight from the oven) directly on them, as they are primarily decorative chargers and table protectors.
Do these have a coating or backing to protect my table?

Yes. They feature a laminated backing that acts as a protective layer against minor spills and crumbs. Please note they are designed as decorative placemats and table protectors, not for direct contact with unwrapped food.
